Marco Kacic is one of North America's top driver coaches, boasting an impressive portfolio in both karting and car racing. His accomplishments include winning national-level karting championships, representing Canada in the World Finals, and achieving significant success in cars. Marco has won an F4 championship, competed in multiple F3 championships with pole positions and victories, and raced in LMP3, securing a podium finish in his first race at Daytona.
What to Expect:
Marco will begin the day with a warm-up session to evaluate the driver’s current skills and identify areas for improvement. From there, he will tailor the day's coaching plan to match the driver’s needs, abilities, and the track or equipment being used.
Here are some of the tools and techniques Marco employs during his coaching sessions:
- Video Analysis: Marco may use onboard footage from the driver’s kart to review lines and pinpoint mistakes. He might also drive another kart and record from behind to provide detailed feedback.
- Lead-Follow Drills: Marco uses this method to teach proper racing lines, braking points, and passing strategies.
- Braking & Passing Drills: Focused exercises to enhance specific skills based on the driver’s needs.
- Track Walks: Analyzing braking points and ideal lines, often paired with visual aids like whiteboard diagrams.
- Telemetry Analysis: Using the Mychron 5 system, Marco tracks data such as braking points, cornering speeds, g-forces, and temperature management to provide a comprehensive breakdown of performance.
- Mental Training: For drivers competing at high levels or working with Marco long-term, mental preparation is a key focus. Developing mental resilience and strategy off the track is as crucial as skill-building on the track.
Marco’s coaching sessions provide a comprehensive approach to driver development, ensuring that each participant gains the knowledge and tools necessary to take their performance to the next level.
The day consists of 8 hours, including a 30-minute setup, teardown, and a lunch break, leaving 6.5 hours of dedicated coaching. Sessions typically run from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, but alternative time slots may be available depending on the day.
